Natural psychedelics
You've probably heard of ayahuasca ceremonies and the peyote cactus. And maybe you've already spotted Aya Huma-that colorful, two-faced devil mask popping up everywhere from textiles to tattoos. It's one of Ecuador's iconic symbols (right after those yellow rubber boots, of course). You've guessed it: Ecuador has a psychedelic-leaning culture, and use of these natural wonders is legal and traditionally popular here

- magic mushrooms, San Pedro cactus, ayahuasca, and the crazy Monkey frog skin extract, Kambô.
While Ayawaska retreats charge exorbitant prices when you book them online from their beautiful websites in English or French, the real price of a guided psychedelic experience is in reality a fraction of what they asking. And obviously the products themselves are cheap. Lets break it down.
Mushrooms are grown in farms, you can choose from up to 5 names, the easiest and entry level being Golden Teacher. Start with 3 grams, opt for a guide to support you in the trip. The trip lasts up to 5 hours, the first 3 being the intense ones. Like with all psychedelics, set and setting matter the most. Avoid going to a techno club or busy places while tripping.
Cactuses have different species, the easiest and most popular being San Pedro. The main difference is that the trip lasts more that twice longer. Start with a small dose, get a trusted guide into the cactus world. The famous peyote is rare and requires more experience and commitment.
Ayawaska is basically natural DMT and it's a more sofisticated product and experience.
Ayawaska is basically natural DMT and it's a more sofisticated product and experience. Before taking Ayawaska, for instance, you should stay away from other drugs, especially weed, better for a month. We know people who went for an Ayawaska ceremony after being on a diet from weed etc for weeks, were given a triple dose and had no trip at all. For some, Ayawaska will make them vomit like ok heroin and trip for a good 24 hours.
Weed used to be legal in Ecuador, but not anymore. What they sell in Montanita is in 99% of cases a terrible and not so natural, dry and even rotten product. Illegal drugs are bad, we advise to respect the law 🤙
Kambô is the drug choice for those really brave and ready to travel far. Produced from a tropical frog tozins, it's famously consumed in injections made with an indigenous spear, leaving a fancy dots tattoo with your shoulder skin, which you will be forever proud of. Some people report that a Kambô trip changed their life, while the experience itself is scary and extreme for most. It obviously makes perfect sense to have support of a professional trip sitter if you decide to take a flight in that direction.
To purchase any of the legal substances mentioned and to receive professional guidance and optionally tripsitting we suggest to contact a trusted shaman, find his ad on the last page. We are wishing you a pleasant trip. (and hope to see you back!)
